A $240 million soccer stadium in Austin, TX will break ground in September of 2019 with plans for completion for the start of the 2021 soccer season. The primary investor, Precourt Sports Ventures, has chosen Austin Commercial as the general contractor. Austin Commercial is well-known for building iconic places like the American Airlines Center, Baylor McLane Stadium, and Austin-Bergstrom Airport.
Gensler has been designated as the lead architect and CAA Icon will assume the role of project manager and Precourt’s representative.
The Multipurpose Venue Will Attract Tourists
The stadium will seat 20,500 guests and be a multipurpose venue with a training facility and public amenities surrounding the stadium. Once completed, it will create at least 1,500 new jobs in the Austin area, along with contributing $163 million to the local economy. Projects like this add to the local economy because they attract tourists year-round.
Precourt is working to make sure that woman-owned and minority-owned companies are included in the construction process. Once the stadium has been completed, Precourt is also committed to helping rebuild and refurbish youth soccer fields around the city. They have long been involved in addressing community issues like affordable housing and the wellness of the city’s young people.
Soccer Stadiums Are Unique
Stadiums built especially for soccer have numerous unique features not found in other sports venues. For instance, the design will include aluminum seating that allows the fans to truly feel the noise from the crowd. It will have a standing area where supporters can stand with signs that support their team. The cantilevered roof overhang will be designed to capture and amplify the noise of the crowd.
Of course, the stadium will also have modern features like Wi-Fi and distributed antenna system (DAS) so fans can use their smartphones. Teams have come to rely on fans to share photos and tweets about their game-day experience. This not only helps the sport itself but generates excitement for the games, players and teams.
Soccer Growing in Popularity
Other soccer stadiums are planned in the next few years at cities across the U.S. because the sport is becoming as popular as football and basketball. A proposed $230 million venue in Columbus, Ohio will seat 20,000 fans and be situated on 13 acres near the Olentangy River near downtown. This project is still in the planning stages with no definite date for groundbreaking.
Tools of the Trade
If you’re in the construction business, then you understand how important good tools are. And that makes sturdy tool boxes essential as well. RolacaseUSA manufactures top-notch van shelving and work van tool cabinets and other products for tradesmen. The company began in 1982 in Australia and quickly became popular because of the durable construction and wide range of storage solutions. These include storage for Cargo Vans, Work Trucks, Tiny Homes, RVs, Boats and other areas where it’s tricky to find enough space to store everything.
